15 Fall Decor Ideas for your Fireplace Mantle

Fall is just around the corner and as you start swapping your sandals for boots, why not fall-ify your home too? Set out bowls of apples and nuts, drape a cozy throw over your favourite armchair and layer beds with thicker quilts. One of our favourite fall activities is savouring warm drinks by the fire so today we’re focusing on autumn decor for the fall highlight of your home! Here’s our favourite ways to deck out a mantle for the season:

White Fireplaces

We love this modern fireplace decked out beautifully for autumn. The clean crisp solid white fireplace balances out the busyness of the mantel and makes everything stand out brightly even more.  With iron wired baskets of freshly chopped wood, feather details, and a plaid flannel blanket, this corner will be the highlight of your fall home.

Combine natural elements like pinecones and oak leaves with metallic pumpkins for a french country aesthetic. This luxurious look is great with blue or grey walls, rich dark wood and creams. Details and texture are key here with pieces like fancy framed mirrors and complex chandelier candle holders.

Another easy seasonal DIY project is to simply trace some leaves and cut them out. Stick them on branches from your backyard, along the fireplace and on the mantle wall. The key with fall decor is bringing the beautiful rich colours of nature inside.

Spend a weekend making homemade autumn decorations for your home! A lot of fall decor can be DIY and we love these fun rustic jack-o-lantern wooden boards. Head to Michaels for paint and stencils and get to work! Add a throw pillow, cozy blankets and a handful of pumpkins to finish it off.

A nice alternative to candles in a non-working fireplace is filling up baskets with cozy throws and blankets. We love the tall side table with a little branch of eucalyptus in a vase over a plush sheepskin rug. So cozy!

A white painted fireplace is great for flexibility and variety. One could easily deck out the mantle with complex arrangements or if you’re one for simplicity, opt for a clean look with a simple line of pumpkins on top like what’s been done here.

Halloween Decor

If Halloween is your thing, have fun with this holiday! Adorn old portraits and silhouettes with detailed cutouts of candelabras and bats for a spooky look. We love the white painted pumpkins with silhouettes on the front for a sharp white and black contrasted look.

An unconventional take on fall decor–blue and white has never looked so good. String some playful garlands and have fun with the pumpkins. We also love how the book spines are facing unusually backwards to match the elegant colour scheme.

Stone Fireplaces

If you’re lucky enough to have a stone fireplace, then by default you already have the perfect fall fireplace without having to do anything. We love the stone bench on this one to cover the stack of wood underneath. Add weathered wooden barrels on top for an extra touch of ruggedness and get those coals going!
