Audra Canfield of Designer Fluff wanted to create a warm and inviting space for the bi-coastal homeowner to kick back and relax. The homeowner divides her time between NYC and Florida and when home in Manhattan it was important to feel hugged by her surroundings. The apartment is small in size, but big in charm. The dining area is wrapped in warm white walls and bright white trim. A contemporary brass Meurice Chandelier by Jonathan Adler is suspended over a white mid-century Saarinen Dining Table. The sparkle of the brass is a glamorous statement that is punctuated by the two black and white prints on the wall. The 4 dining chairs are covered in a muted shade of sun-drenched clay. The dark stain on the wood floor cements the furniture arrangement and around the corner the glam continues with a large gilded vintage mirror and a small burnished stool.

The moment you arrive in the apartment it is clear that the homeowner has an eclectic selection of furnishings and decor. A carved antique armchair sits by the door and an art deco bureau is just a few feet away. The bureau hides the everyday items and at the same time displays a collection of small treasures such as photos, books and vases. A white faux-skin rug on the floor softens up the space while a large mirror balances the black and white photograph over the bureau.

In the living space another large mirror hangs above a very pale celery green velvet sofa. White vinyl chairs by Knoll are opposite the sofa while a vintage pink marble coffee table anchors the seating. Large graphic patterns on pillows add an eclectic colour story and a small brass sconce continues the glam. A flat paneled Scandinavian storage unit adds much needed storage and a guitar propped in the corner is asking to be played.

The living and dining areas are laid out in an L-shaped floor plan with the Galley Kitchen situated beside the dining area and behind the living area. The story of white on the walls continues throughout the kitchen. Shaker frames on the white lacquered cabinet doors are punctuated with brushed nickel hand pulls that compliment the Stainless Steel appliances. Some of the upper cabinets feature glass panels inselt into the doors for a visual break. The counters are marble and the backsplash is a white subway tile. The unbroken white-scape highlights the dining room chandelier and chairs as well as the twisted red willow branches in the far corner.

A wine glass rack is mounted below the upper cabinets to save on space. The white 3x6 subway tiles on the back splash are visually tied into the Calcutta marble counter by colour matching the grout with the marble veining. The under mount single bowl sink is a modern square shape and the Stainless Steel Pull-out Faucet has a contemporary Goose-neck profile.

The bedroom continues the theme of white with a soft white bedspread and lampshade. Punches of colour are brought in with a selection of random but complimentary pillows and a contemporary painting of a woman lounging on a blue armchair with her dog on another blue chair, hangs peacefully above the bed.

The selection of pillows on the bed creates a cozy welcoming touch and can easily be changed with each season or holiday. This grouping with the spring flower graphic would be a perfect - you guessed it - spring vignette.

At the end of the short hall is the door to the bathroom. The hallway is lined on one side with a bank of cupboards and on the other is the bedroom. The bathroom door features a vintage brass and crystal door handle and the cupboards repeat the look with modern brass and Lucite handles. Through the door we get a glimpse of the only none white wall treatment, a black and white small print wallpaper creates the visual interest in an otherwise utilitarian space.

An arrangement of blue crushed velvet, Turmeric zigzag, and a small black on white print would be perfect for summer-scaping the bed.

A gold zigzag, tan and espresso hexagons and multi-coloured polka dots would be perfect for the winter bed.
