Contemporary Home Design in Manhattan Beach – three-story home with an elevator

Los Angeles Times has recently featured a spectacular, contemporary home that really raises the bar for luxurious living. This modern, three-storey house in Manhattan Beach, California, was designed by local home builder Mike Perryman with a real soft spot for the area. Perryman, of MAP Development, designed this fabulous house with the help of partner David Darling of San Francisco-based Aidlin Darling Design. The zoning at this upscale address – 1212 Fisher – actually allows homes to be built up to 30 ft. high, so Perryman and Darling took advantage and positioned the home to maximize the panoramic views from the Palos Verdes Peninsula to Malibu. Beyond this, the goal was to incorporate outdoor living areas into the grand scheme of the design. A private courtyard blurs the line between in and out, as do the home’s numerous skylights, and the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows which slide open to welcome the cool, California breeze. A 10-ft. screen of Brazilian ipe wood offers privacy from the street and from the home next door, which coincidentally is also being developed by Perryman and Darling. And the asking price for this magnificent, modern design? $5.6 million. MAP Development & Aidlin Darling Design.
