Contemporary Rural Architecture in Austria

This contemporary rural architecture is a cool cube in the country. This red wood-clad house designed by Austrian architecture firm X Architekten is an artful addition, built onto an existing ground-level home. The new volumes include a basement and upper level, which are seamlessly incorporated with the original structure. A glass-enclosed living area beneath the cantilevered red volume opens onto an outdoor entertaining area, enjoying views of the garden outside while flooding interiors with natural light. Warm wood and rich stone floors further connect this countryside home to nature. A stone fireplace feature is visible from the dining area, located a half-level up from the main. Warm and rustic with a contemporary edge, this awesome rural house blends old and new construction, and two generation of family. X Architekten
