This Absolutely Awesome Turtle Roof Wood Cottage Mimics Dunes and Heats with Bio-fuel

This absolutely awesome turtle roof wood cottage was designed to mimic the dunes that surround it. The Dune House, by Marc Koehler Architects, is a unique, split-level, loft-like home in the northern Dutch Islands. Just look at that wood slat exterior. It gives the sense that the house is reaching for the sky in this barren, yet enchanting, landscape. The core of the house is the fireplace and diverse stairwell that connects all of the levels. Submerged beneath ground level are the intimate, bedroom spaces. The living, dining and upper loft areas are open and bathed in light. Each level has its own views – one quite different from the other. The upper levels vistas stretch out over the ocean – the bedroom windows are at eye level with the exotic grasses and faunas. Built almost entirely from sustainable materials and heated with biofuel – the C02 footprint remains minimal. Dune House is a home that is truly one with its surroundings – on all levels.
