Modern Cottages - Sustainable Prefab Cottage Design on Display

Shabby-chic is the style and sustainability and comfort is the name of the game for these great modern cottages, designed by Casper Mork-Ulnes of Modern Cabana (a San Francisco-based company that builds prefab backyard structures), and showcased by Sunset Magazine. As a ready-to-use, prefab cottage retreat or as an addition to your existing home, the Modern Cottage makes a great guest house that'll wow visitors for its contemporary construction, creature comforts and eco-friendly design. For this particular home, the designer combined two Modern Cabana structures to form a larger cottage. A composite-deck patio encircles the home, creating wonderful outdoor living areas including an al fresco kitchen, a play area for the kids, a lounge for the adults, and an outdoor shower. For the pampered pooch, a mini version of this eco-friendly cottage comes complete with a Green roof. This Earth-friendly home features recycled denim insulation, no-VOC finishes, local materials, renewable bamboo flooring underfoot and overhead, recycled tire-rubber roofing. This cool, prefab cottage design is on display by Sunset Magazine on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until July 19. Modern Cabana
