Earthy and elegant house in Mexico: Wood, Water, Wow!

This Mexican modern house designed by architecture firm Taller Hector Barroso is our idea of nature with an edgy twist! Three words: wood, water, and wow!

This two storey, contemporary style home comes together as a series of cubed volumes, with a flat-top roofline accentuated by the horizontal pattern of the timber facade. A portion of overhanging roof and the cantilevered volumes add architectural interest while providing shelter to the alfresco living areas below.

This wood clad house boasts a simple, minimalist style that instantly soothes the soul, thanks to its calming color palette of earthy grey while reflecting nature in its expansive windows.

Interiors echo the serene sentiment of the exterior, featuring the same horizontal lines and grey color scheme on the wood walls and floors. The floor to ceiling glass wall provides an unobstructed view of the outdoors and floods the two storey front foyer with natural light, permeating the home's lower and upper levels with warn, natural sunlight. The glass enclosed staircase leads to the second floor, which offers views of the living space below and just beyond it, nature.

The living room and dining area are cozy spots that aren't short on views either. The glass wall - a running theme of this home - overlooks the lushly planted gardens that infuse this room with their leafy greenery.

Just on the other side of the glass, outdoor entertaining areas let you enjoy the best of both worlds. A wonderfully knotty wood deck features light and dark planks have a wonderful weathered appearance.

The lovely landscaped pond adds a whimsical touch to the otherwise ultra-modern house.
