Modern California Architecture on a former brown-field site

This modern California architecture located in La Jolla, San Diego is our idea of California dreamin’! Architect and homeowner Jonathan Segal designed this 7,200-sq.-ft. house on a former brown-field site, bringing new life to a vacant space. This live work home accommodates family living and an architecture studio – offering the best of both worlds. The urban house features a stucco box resting on steel walls, making a contemporary style addition to the city landscape. The main living area is bordered by a reflecting pool to one side and a glass floor on the other, which doubles as a glass ceiling for the below-grade recreation room and office, flooding it with natural light and eliminating that “basement” feeling. On the upper floor, this open concept home has a free flow of interiors through a floor-to-ceiling glass wall and out into the garden. Sunny and embracing the outdoors with a modern edge, this California house has it all. Jonathan Segal
