A New York apartment design idea by The Apartment Creative Agency, an interesting color scheme and fun furniture choices make for a modish dining interior here. What we instantly notice is the pop of the red chairs and that unusual chandelier by Marcel Wanders. They just jump out of the screen. Actually the combo of the chandelier with popping red accents strongly reminds us of a post we wrote about a living room idea designed by Wanders himself. But back to the dining room. The reason why the chairs and lamp stand out so much is because of how they contrast all the grey from the concrete and the stainless steel. Their more complex forms also do the same against all the straight lines. These are good design strategies for a very different and modish dining interior.

This image fills us with inspiration for a colorful dining room. In the spirit of autumn, which for some of us is defined by the turning leaves and the introduction of all those warm shades of red and orange and yellow and brown, this dining room is appropriate. It’s fresh yet warm and the chairs just pop right out at you. Orange is a good color for a dining room as it has been associated with sociability and stimulation of appetite. Against a neutral backdrop, in this case white, the orange shades come alive. Also noteworthy is the choice of a light green rug. Certain shades of green are a close complementary color to orange, therefore it is a perfect partner to pair with orange. It counteracts it, thus creating a sense of balance in the room. The result is a lively, inviting space.

For a fresh, elegant and special vibe, consider decorating with lavender color walls, like in this example. Designed by Eve Robinson Associates, this kitchen and dining room are something to appreciate. Purple on the walls is a courageous choice, but light and slightly dulled shades, such as these lavender colors are really soft and calming but still remain captivating. Purple shades have been historically associated with royalty and occasion, making it a good choice for the dining room since it is a room where people gather together for special events (even if it’s just a regular Wednesday night dinner). The color scheme is cool and incorporates lots of white, some silver and grey – so the spaces feel open and big. But you can count on that gorgeous wooden floor to bring in the warmth. And notice how that light green laptop table fits perfectly with lavender. The rooms have a fundamental traditional element to them but the layered details make them romantically modern. We love this dramatic dining room design, expertly put together by Gaile Guevara. The walnut dining table is a custom item created in collaboration with Christian Woo. Centering the table against the white wall adorned with a simple but striking artwork by Sabina Hill really defines the space. The black leather and walnut chairs make the perfect companions in uniting the scheme. Look how well they work with the choice of Tom Dixon pendant lights. The color scheme is admittedly dark but in such an open space with white walls and light wood floors, it works exceptionally well and achieves a perfect dramatic look without being overbearing. A lingering hint of contemporary gothic pervades these luxury dining room ideas by Cattelan Italia. Black and white color schemes throughout simply demand attention… hints of sparkle add glitz and glamour. Imposing chairs and large tables offer an unexpected combination of angles and curves; the jutting metallic legs of the furniture are topped with ball-shaped protuberances. But this is a very modern gothic concept – each dining room decor idea offers startling contrasts. In the first look, it is the nature references that catch you off guard.
