Dutch designer Ineke Hans has created these pieces of furniture for the Fogo Island Inn, an artists' residence situated in Newfoundland, Canada. The collection is made both of outdoor and indoor pieces, all manufactured by local craftsmen. The designer wanted her pieces to be playful and practical and at the same time, like the locals wanted them to be. For her it was very important that the collection fit the island, its history and its people. The outdoors pieces are exposed on the rooftop terrace of the hotel. They are low tables, chairs and benches made from chunky wood planks painted a deep red. They contrast nicely the neutral colors of the wood and floors outside, creating a splash of color. The collection for the interior includes chairs, rockers, recliners, benches and beds. They are designed in the same traditional Canadian style, in solid wood and bold colors. The seaters are also complemented by cozy looking, bright colored pillows and mattresses.
