Sophisticated New York City Loft

When thinking of a New York City loft there are some cliché images that immediately come to mind. However, this particular loft designed by Axis Mundi breaks away from the industrial-design tradition and proposes a more sophisticated approach. There will be neither exposed ceilings and brick walls, nor visible metal beam structures. The materials used here are nobler, and the tendency is rather to hide and cover the structures than to reveal them. There are even some stylistic exaggerations such as the white ornate columns that replace the industrial metallic pillars we would normally see in a regular loft. The social, day areas of the house are open and freely connected amongst them. The kitchen island takes the double function of breakfast counter, while in front of it there is a massive wooden dining table that makes the transition to the sitting areas. There are two distinct sitting areas, both furnished with cozy fabric sofa and comfortable design armchairs. The main sitting room is adjacent to the dining area, crating a fusion social space. The second area is conceived as a media room, as it is oriented towards a wall-hung flat screen.

The only raw material we find in this loft is concrete, as some walls have been left exposed thus creating a sophisticated mix.
The dining table is one of the master pieces of the design, and it is surrounded by a combination of wooden benches and dining chairs. A large-sized contemporary painting overlooks it from the adjacent wall.
The flat screen and the bookshelves can be concealed thanks to a folding and sliding screen when a more intimate atmosphere is required.
The bathrooms have design fittings, such as this Corian freestanding tub and the stainless steel tube towel warmer/radiator.
