Custom Home in Los Angeles by Custom Home Architects Studio 0.10

This cool, custom home in West L.A. boasts a modern flair and a cool edge that distinguishes it from the rest. Favorable zoning regulations allowed for this atypical and aesthetic design, by Los Angeles based Studio 0.10 Architects. Designed for a client who eats, sleeps and breathes photography, the home is an artful balance of live, work and play. In order to maximize any outdoor living space on the lot, this 5,400-sq.-ft. house was stacked – one cube balancing atop another, in a series of private yet interconnected living areas. By building up rather than out, the architect made room for the traditional front and back yard, along with a large courtyard nestled between the home’s two separate structures. The modern facade resembles an “armor” of custom patterned zinc, wood, and massive windows. An exterior wall of glass follows the interior staircase up, offering fabulous city views from the inside, while from the outside giving this custom home its characteristic mark.
