Presenting its new glass sink line, Sweden’s Kosta Boda is making a splash in the bath with the new Lagoon sink with fish – a fab showpiece with function to boot. Artist and designer Kjell Engman used glass to echo the cool qualities of water with a modern flair. This unique sink is inspired by an aquarium, complete with a fish frozen inside for a pop of color and added interest. Not that this sink needs it! From its ice-block shape and look, to its curious stepped interior, there’s much to love about this modern washbasin. Pair it with a high-polished chrome faucet for added oomph. For more information, visit Kosta Boda.

Ultra-modern in looks and ultra-functional by design, this cool sink mirror combo by Sanindusa is as much a statement piece as it is a bathroom essential. The aptly named Blend washbasin-and-mirror combo boasts clean, minimalist lines that lead the eye from top to bottom, with simple straight edges and few adornments. The sink itself follows along that same vein, with an integrated waterfall, so no need to bulky faucets and obtrusive taps. This wall-mounted sink vanity is ideal for small spaces, featuring a sliding mirror that conceals storage space for all your primping and prepping needs. For more info on the Blend, visit Sanindusa.

The cool, contemporary look of this sink with no drain by Giquardo makes a sleek statement in any bathroom. The Bowl sink artfully blends organic and ultra-modern: carved from a block of black granite, white composite quartz or Belgian blue stone, these earthy materials provide a striking contrast to this contemporary concept. Modern square edges meet natural rounded forms, and we love the clean look with no drain – well, it’s there, it’s just hidden, offering all the function without compromising aesthetics. The Bowl sink comes in eight different sizes, in single and double bowl designs with deck- and wall-mounted hardware. Check it out by visiting Giquardo.

We love the retro look of these old-style brass sinks by Restart. The Italian company is channeling the old world farmhouse aesthetic, both in material and looks, in this half-enclosed square brass sink. The integrated dish rack and towel bar add to the sink’s classic aesthetic and function. The frontal overhang and edge are a nice touch. Complete the look with a fab brass faucet with separate hot and cold, either deck- or wall-mounted. The sink dimensions are 79.5 cm wide, by 47 cm deep, by 17 cm high. Custom sizes available on request. Check out these old-style brass sinks by visiting Restart.

If your are looking for creative integration of bathroom sinks into their environment, then you need to take a look at this sink by Antonio Lupi, called Strappo. In English, the word strappo roughly translates to ‘tear’, ‘lift’, ‘pull’ ... so you can understand how the name of this sink and its visual appearance are closely linked. It seems that a section of the wall was carefully peeled off to reveal a washbasin. As if that wasn’t surprising enough enough, enter LED lighting for a dramatic glow. The piece that seems to be peeling from the wall is made of plasterboard and finished on the outside to match the wall it sits on perfectly. Inside hides a Corian sink. Learn more at Antonio Lupi.

The new Fusion II by Wet is a colorful pedestal sink with many colorful options for its inner basin. Without the colors, the sink makes a strong contemporary statement, given its cylindrical shape and heavy demeanor. But with the colors, it’s pretty bold, in a fun way. Designed by Jan Puylaert, the pedestal sink measures 48 x 48cm and stands 88cm tall and is made of recyclable polypropylene. The column’s basin can be fitted with LED illumination (neutral or RGB) as well as floor illuminated for a cool almost floating effect. Visit Wet to learn more.

You're asking yourself if you read the title right - Light by ArtCeram is a lamp shaped washbasin? Yes indeed. Looking at it for a while, we are surprisingly struck by how much sense a lamp’s shape makes for a washbasin. It’s as if with an unusual idea, they are pointing out the obvious. In a uniform, glossy white or black this iconic shape turns into a contemporary piece of bathroom furniture, one that makes a lively, modern statement. Leave it to Meneghello and Paolelli (the designers) to think up such extravagant ideas that work! Find out more at ArtCeram.

This seriously skinny bathroom sink by ArtCeram is part of the Naked collection, which includes two types of vanities. Clearly the large surface area of this basin is what allows it to be so skinny; the water has lots of space to disperse. The result is a slim, contemporary style bathroom sink that proudly displays its uniqueness - especially in combination with one of the two minimally stylish wood vanities - or something like the black structure in one of the images. The collection as a whole is modern, slim and simple - yet the design shines with a quality of softness that makes it quite friendly. Stop by ArtCeram to learn more.

Before even making your way to the kitchen, you could start your day with a cup-o-something right in your bathroom - if you had this basin Cup by Artceram. Definitely an amusing basin, one that evokes a smile and for those with a sense of humor, willing to get asked a lot of questions. The design qualities of this piece are not unusual however - white and clean and modern and sleek, but it is the idea that makes it unique and atypical. Visit Artceram for more information.
