Eclectic Loft with Acid-etched Concrete Floors

This ultra-modern, and yet eclectic, New York loft spans an entire floor of a former industrial building with stunning full window vistas on three sides. The built-in refrigerator and minimalist cabinets relegate the kitchen to the background while concentrating on the open space and height of this 4,800 square foot, 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom living experience. The white lacquered cube island is topped with Imperial Black Granite and polished teak side. Monstrous sliding door panels can create private rooms or wide-open space as they glide across acid-etched concrete floors. Pieces like the Ettore Sottsass Wiggle Table and Andrea Branzi’s stacked disk sculpture pull the eyes upward to the hot rolled black steel cladding pipes that flow with the ceilings from room to room. Quirky modern designs such as the cabinet fashioned from loose drawers, or rugs piled in layers, add to the texture of this unique urban setting. In the bedroom, an abstract bed covering and beside table from the 40s continue the retrofit theme in this airy space. Cubist accents in a modern, light-filled loft with New York at your doorstep – it doesn’t get much better than this.

The acid-etched concrete floor adds to continuity throughout the space, as does the black steel cladding pipes in the ceiling.

A chest of drawers is literally that in this eclectic creation.
