Polyester Resin Desk with Embedded Ash Lamp and Glass Vase

Amsterdam designer Roel Huisman likes to mix natural and man-made materials in his designs. This console desk is a great example of mixing elements. It is not only about materials, but also about functionality. Despite its narrow depth, this desk embeds a table lamp on a pivoting arm, a secret drawer and a glass tube-like vase. The combination between resin and wood is inspired by the naval industry, only Huisman replaces teak or mahogany with a more unexpected wood, ash. The very light color of the ash combined with the pastel aqua-green of the resin surface result in a refined piece of furniture. The resin slab is massive and angular, whereas the wooden and glass pieces are rounded in order to soften up the whole. The small storage compartment is concealed by a sliding wooden pad, which serves as writing pad as well. A visible green electric cord connects the lamp to the power source. This desk is part of a bigger collection, and it can be combined with the resin shelves. We look forward to see what comes next!
