A Modernist House in Quebec Looks Like a Tower

Standing in the midst of trees and meadow grass, this modernist house in Quebec is positively tower-like. Closed from the neighbor-less woods with wood and metal siding, the home to a Polish sculptor Jacek Jarnuszkiewicz is a sight of contemporary living.

YH2 designed the project, and made sure there is more privacy to it. It is impossible, however, to build a modern home without characteristically huge windows and glass sliding doors, glass transoms and glazed walls.

All these elements hide behind the wood siding walls, and open up only to a degree. An open yard with a spacious deck is another compromise of privacy, but then the woods seem otherwise uninhabited.

Just like any other modern home that takes after modernist architecture, it looks bright on the inside. White plastered walls ensure that light, coming from the windows and transoms, reflects and travels further.

A glass catwalk continues the theme of glazed exterior inclusions in the interior, and allows visual communication between the upper and lower levels.

Since only one of the house walls is completely shut off from the outside world, every room must have amazing views of the outdoor splendor.
