Modern Italian Villa Design Blends Old and New

Located in Ceccano, in the Italian province of Frosinon, architects Paolo Belardi and Alessio Burini of HOF Architetti gave this unique 18th-century villa a modern makeover. What makes it truly modern is its interesting juxtaposition of old and new; the minimalist and the ornate; tradition and innovation. The villa features dual facades – a restored main facade of white plaster which is the only original part of the newly made modern house, and the rear face reminiscent of Le Corbusier’s modern architecture and International Style. Opposing these historic flavours is a cool external, stainless steel staircase that spirals its way to the rooftop, where a wood-clad terrace topped with contemporary copper-plated turrets overlooks the Italian countryside.
