Minimal Apartment in Kiev Has a Lot to Show

Sergey Makhno designed a minimal apartment in Kiev with a purposely ascetic approach in mind, but it still has a lot to show in terms of both design and decor. As you step in, you see a grey concrete ceiling running down over the entry, broken by white plaster and ashen wood. There are bold green furnishings in the living room and cool lighting fixtures in the kitchen that make this project stand out among thousands of others.

The idea was to get away from the ‘flea market’ look along with unnecessary elements that often take up too much space and end up unused. The architects went with an open plan because it brings more light to the place, but there is a clear distinction between the rooms.

In the living room the bright green balances out the grey concrete. The minimal kitchen, however, comes in a classic combination of black and white, which includes the ceiling.

Lighting fixtures have addressed the modern leaning towards minimalism with original ideas. And this project, as many others, makes good use of them.
