Elevated House Plans – Flood Prone House in Japan

Surrounded by rice fields, bamboo forests and nearby ponds (which, when coupled with rain, all make flooding a legitimate concern), this flood-prone, elevated house plan by Japanese architecture firm Naf Architect & Design keeps a low profile and stands on stilts 1.3 meters above ground. The house is V shaped, with the main entrance from the street leading to the rooftop terrace level and continuing downstairs to the main living area. A large deck on the lower level spans the entire length of the house and allows for immediate access to outdoor entertaining areas from every room through sliding-glass doors – even the bathtub overlooks the outdoors! Interiors are simple but stylish, featuring wood-clad walls and marble floors which further connect this home to nature. Naf Architect & Design
