Eco Live Work Space Brings Sustainability Home

This eco live work space is an example of how eco-conscious commitment and creativity come together in perfect harmony. This interesting home in Fayetteville, Arkansas designed by Skiles Architect was made for living and working, but also designed to respect the environment – a tall order for the architects who undertook the task. The V-shaped house plan is characterized by its opposing roofs which angle inward and are separated by a small breezeway. The narrow lot house design is optimized with a smart floor plan that includes conventional living space, a workshop and a garage in relatively small quarters. But there’s more to this eco sustainable home than meets the eye. Because environmental consciousness was top of mind for the homeowners, this home boasts passive solar technologies to make the most of the sun – a strip of south-facing clerestory windows to heat the home when it’s cool out, a geothermal heat pump with radiant concrete floors, SIP roof panels, and while a three-foot overhang roof and screen porch to shade the structure from the hot sun.
