Brilliant Tiny Apartment in Taiwan by A Little Design

With just 236 square feet (22 sq m) to work an architect firm A Little Design turned this tiny apartment in Taiwan into a livable space, which for young people, as the architects note, has become increasingly hard to afford in Taipei City today. And so they did an amazing job with what they had. The ten-foot (3.3m) ceiling allowed to create a loft bedroom under which they tucked a kitchen and a bath. One of the walls was used to build storage with a sliding ladder. A small alcove with a big window now accommodates a couch with a hanging cabinet and a few floating shelves to maximize the storage space.

Considering the minuscule amount of space the architects managed to fit everything a resident requires for permanent living. Two side console tables that don’t occupy too much space can double as a breakfast bar and can also be set together to make a small dining table, which further enhances their functionality.

Minimalist lighting is highly functional as everything else in the apartment. While the track lights are illuminating various parts of the shelving, a ceiling fan that helps with ventilation also features a built-in lamp for general lighting. A retractable wall lamp above the breakfast bar can be used for reading on the sofa and the bedroom headboard is equipped with two simple wall sconces.

In terms of interior design anything beside the white color would hardly work for such a tiny apartment. Abundant wooden accents make for an inviting warm look and the minimalist aesthetic of the furnishings maximizes the precious space. (Photography by Hey! Cheese)
