Organic Architecture – Natural House Design with Unusual Architectural Features

From the outside, the Kitchel House by BOORA Architects seems to blend into its natural surroundings here in Northwest Portland, Oregon. Surrounded by forest and lush landscape, this unusual home’s boomerang shape aligns with the terrain. Inside, this unique house design is not what you’d expect from its understated exterior. This open concept home design boasts an 825-sq.-ft. main living area. Here, an open-to-above kitchen, dining area and living room are flooded with natural light flowing in through expansive windows that stretch from the ground up to the roof. The upper level too is an open-concept, sunlit space with the most unusual bookshelf as its main feature. Following the organic architecture and curving contours of this oddly shaped house, the 38-ft. bookshelf extends from the bedroom, through the hallway and into the office area. As you stroll along the shelf, browsing for your next read, you can overlook the main living area below and take in the amazing view of nature outside. BOORA Architects
