This 30 Year-Old Modernized House in Singapore Looks Like New

House With Screens is a project of a boutique architectural Singapore firm ADX Architects. Standing out with its graphic black and white facade this 30 year-old modernized house looks completely fresh.

Since the clients wanted to retain both the old structure and the green outdoor courtyard for their young kids to play around, the architects had to work with the existing architecture to make it lighter, airier and more functional.

Due to a stone fence around the house perimeter the glass walls on the ground level are hidden from the privy eyes. The architects also created a connection between indoors and outdoors so very popular in the contemporary design.

While a few trees outline the fence, the green courtyard features plenty of space for the kids to play around. And there is a small deck at the back of the house featuring an outdoor dining set.

Inside, the house is minimal, which makes the screens especially stand out through the glass sliding doors. In order to bring more light to the top level the architects also came up with a balcony design that is visible both from inside and outside and adds nice green accents to the bathroom and the living area interiors.

Even though pretty old the house boasts a completely new look, which makes it indistinguishable from any contemporary home. (Photography by Edward Hendricks)
