Casas del Sol villas, located on Koh Tao Island, boast a contemporary tropical interior design. There are five different villas to choose from but they all share some interesting design features that we’d like to take a moment to appreciate. The floors are made of polished concrete and although modern, the finish gives the space an earthy feel. This same concrete is used for the worktables and kitchen islands. Essentially, using the same material blends these massive tables into the interior scheme rendering them totally unobtrusive. Of course, the windows are amazingly large to make the most of the wondrous views while opening up the interior even more. Other furniture items such as the dining and coffee tables are made of unrefined wood and this also brings a natural feel into the modern space – tying it closely to the surrounding natural environment. Another element that does this is the wooden ceiling beams. They mostly run in a horizontal manner (which has a nice effect on its own), but notice how in some rooms, the beams remind us of large tropical leaves. The stone tiles in the bathroom are also a nice touch, as are the artistic decorative pieces throughout the villas. Overall, these villas possess a modern understated luxury about them.
