Designed by Italian architect Simone Micheli (down to the furniture and fixtures), this meeting of the old and new inspires new heights in white. The century old brick meets modern neon accents and creates a hospitable place for entertaining – and living – in this three story home. The stark white furniture and bleached parquet floors are contrasted, and complimented, by white stone Florentine walls. The scattered “eggs”, some doubling as the base for the living room table, give curves and whimsy to the modernist design. Natural elements add earth tones – the scented cedar dining table and cowhide chairs, while the lime and orange on select walls add splashes of dramatic color. The fluffy bed covers add texture in spades – they look like fields of freshly picked cotton balls. The house is awash with light and the white baseline amplifies the brightness. The occasional flash of purple neon lighting accentuates the modern bent, but is always subtle and never overwhelms. A laser cut message on the back of the door helpfully asks (in Italian), “Have you remembered everything before leaving?”. This combination of the past and future is a house you won’t soon forget.
