Contemporary Concrete Home in Berlin

By combining the most basic of building blocks – concrete, wood and glass – with its forward-thinking designs, architectural firm AFGH has created a contemporary apartment building that a handful of Berliners now call “home”. Evocative of an industrial age balanced with a modern sleekness, the award-winning building boasts a floor plan that’s simple, almost utilitarian-looking. In the place of traditional walls, you’ll find crannies and corners jutting in and out, providing privacy from one area to the next. The soaker tub is literally a hole in the wall, leaving you to nothing but your thoughts. The kitchen is similar in feel – simplicity, counteracted by the luxurious touches of stainless steel and smooth countertops. The exposed concrete and plywood offer an ironically “unfinished” yet pristinely polished finish to the space. AFGH
