Cliff Home Plan – “Edgy” in Norway

Norway architecture firm Jarmund/Vigsnaes AS Architects designed the Edge House in Kolbotn, just on the outskirts of Oslo. This cool cliff home plan really is as “edgy” as its name would suggest. Literally hanging off a rocky plateau, the home is cantilevered over an eight-meter drop and raised on steel stilts. A set of stairs lead up the sleep slope to the main entrance – a feature which, apart from looking unique, has also saved considerably on blasting costs while preserving the natural characteristics of the rocky site. Inside, this home plan boasts a strong horizontal presence, laid out on a single level with main rooms branching off a main hallway. Minimalist interiors and cool, contemporary angles bring subtle architectural interest to the modern design, which is enclosed in glass walls for a bright and spacious feel to the compact home.
