Chic Cottage Home Gets a Modern Update

Rustic yet refined, this chic cottage home is a must-see. Originally built in the 1960s, this New York home by award-winning architecture firm Method Design was made over with three main objectives – the creation of formal entry, the addition of a master suite, and an overall re-cladding using a sustainable material, all the while respecting the mature-growth trees dotting the hillside. The slope house plan was given a 500-sq.-ft. addition perched on stilts, putting the master among the trees surrounding it and a newly defined main entrance just below it. This contemporary cottage boasts clean, modern interiors presenting a combination of interesting architectural details, natural wood and lots of glass to let the views in at every turn. Now, this cool forest home is out idea of a sweet retreat! Method Design
