Assemblable Table from Decastelli

In a world of technology and continuous innovation, it is good from time to time to rediscover the value and beauty of the simple things! That is what Italian manufacturer De Castelli have done with their Mastro collection. The designers from GumDesign took their inspiration from the old worktables that craftsmen used in their workshops. By drawing simple lines and using carefully chosen materials they have designed a great table which can be used both as dining table or in the office, as desk or conference table. The narrow width of only 80 centimeters makes this table suitable for smaller or narrower spaces. The principle is very simple: the acid-etched iron sheet top folds on the sides to create a U shaped channel, in which the two fir-wood trestles are inserted. The visible slot of the trestles becomes the main feature of the table that creates great impact with its geometry. When not in use, the trestles can be nested horizontally inside the metal top, thus reducing the storage space, the packaging and the global costs of logistics. Following the same simple design principle, a bench and a bookcase come to complete the collection.
