Mosaic tiling has always been a fantastic way to add colour and pattern to a room. Though for those that didn’t want straight lines and repetitive patterns there wasn’t much choice. With Hakatai’s new pebble glass mosaic tile, there is a fabulous organic alternative. Each cobblestone is handmade, and resembles smooth river rocks. Molten glass is dropped on metal sheets and allowed to cool, thus each tile has a natural fluid shape. Then coloured glaze is applied to the underside and then fired. The result is a high glossy shine over a gently rolling form. Available in grey or white with either a tumbled or polished finish, Hakatai’s cobblestone series are $21.60 a sheet.
